When my sweet friend called me to ask me to take some family photos of her siblings and parents, I said “Yes” immediately! It was only after that that she told me they wanted them taken on the family farm – bonus! This sweet family invited my whole family to their farm outside of St. Louis for the shoot. This shoot was a gift from the “kids” to their parents for their 50th anniversary.
We drove all over their property looking for significant places to shoot. This farm has been in their family for a long time and we wanted to honor the family legacy. We shot on the front steps of their house, on a hill overlooking their beautiful pasture (with grass and cows as our backdrop), and even at the old family barn. Even though it was a hot day and we were on the lookout for mosquitos and ticks, we had so much fun!
I do have to admit one thing, while squatting down to take one of the last few shots, I started to loose my balance so I put my hand down – into a pile of cow manure! I guess I will do almost anything for the shot (and to not drop my camera)!
