I take photos all the time! I hardly ever put my camera away in it’s bag. Actually, I probably take more personal photos than photos for clients – just ask my kiddos!
Being a mom means that I am the official photographer for our family. Between birthdays, TaeKwonDo, soccer games, piano recitals, etc. – I document our family’s big events. In addition, I spend a lot of time photographing my kids doing ordinary things: completing schoolwork, watching TV, playing in their rooms, etc. Why do I do this? Well, I have a few reasons, let me tell you!
First, I think documenting the ordinary stuff in addition to the big stuff is important; this is our everyday. Our lives are not all special occasions; we doing boring stuff too. Secondly, I am constantly on a mission to improve as a photographer. I use these everyday photos as a chance to practice new techniques. I am hopeful that all the hard work I put in with my kids will transfer to my client work also.
So, if you see me in Target with my camera taking photos of my kiddos, please don’t think I’m crazy – now you know that I’m just working to be a better photographer while documenting my kiddos everyday!
I have created a gallery on my website for some of my favorite personal photos, please take a look. Here are a few of my favorites:
