Do you remember getting your school photos taken? I do. My mom made sure we were wearing something decent and off we went. I vividly remember walking down the school hallway to an empty room where we sat on a bar stool and were told to “smile”. The photographer took one, maybe two photos and that was it. Weeks later when we got the photos back, we were usually unimpressed with the result. Maybe we forgot to double check that our hair looked OK or maybe our clothes looked rumpled. I know for me, I was usually giving my “you told me to smile, smile” but not giving my “you made me laugh/happy, smile”. This is how my Fine Art School Photography service is different.
I think one of the biggest differences in my school photos is that I take more than one photo of your kiddos. Actually, I take 20 to 40. I spend time with your kiddo getting them to give me their genuine smile. I even get a few silly faces, smirks, laughs, and maybe even some sass. This is my jam. I love to capture your child’s genuine personality. Can I also say that I have so much fun with these kids. They never cease to entertain me!
Another big difference is my black background. I want the focus of the photo to be your child. Period. I don’t want the background to be a part of the story. Black is classic, it stands the test of time and it adds a sense of formality that I think makes the photos timeless. I hope you agree.
If you would like your child’s school to offer photos like mine, please reach out to me and I would be happy to contact the school. Most schools don’t know they have other options.
Here are some examples of my Fine Art School Photos from a school I worked with earlier this year and will work with again next year!
